BEST OF INTENTIONS (Travis Tritt)
Re-Transcribed by Chris Bowman
(To play in Key of actual song, Capo the 1st fret)
Intro: Em / C / D - Em / C / G Em / C / D - Em / C / G
Verse1:
(Em) I had big (C) plans for our (D) future,
Said I'd (Em) give you the (C) whole world (G) somehow
I (Em) tried to make (C) good on that (D) promise,
Thought I'd (Em) be so much (C) further by (G) now
(C) Never could build you a (D) castle,
Even (C) though you're the queen of my (Cm) heart
But (G) I've had the best of (C) intentions (D) from the (G) start (C)(G)
Verse2:
Now (Em) some people (C) think I'm a (D) loser,
Cause (Em) I seldom (C) get things (G) right
But (Em) you make me (C) feel like a (D) winner,
When you (Em) wrap me in (C) your arms so (G) tight
(C) Please tell me you will (D) remember,
(C) No matter how much I do (Cm) wrong
That (G) I've had the best of (C) intentions - (D) all (G) along (Gsus)(G)
Chorus:
I (Em) give you a ring, and I (D) promised you things
I (G) always (D) thought we'd (C) do
But my (F) best-laid plans slipped (C/A) right through my hands
to (D) show my love for you.
And if (Em) you could read my (C) heart,
then you'd (G) know without (C) exception
It was (Am) all with the (C) best (D) of (G) intentions (Gsus)(G)
Instrumental Em / C / D - Em / C / G
Chorus (See above)
Verse 3:
So (Em) here I am (C) asking for(D)giveness,
and (Em) praying that (C) you'll under(G)stand
(Em) Don't think I (C) take you for (D) granted,
girl I (Em) know just how (C) lucky I (G) am
(C) Know you deserve so much (D) better,
you (C) won't find devotion more (Cm) true
Cause (G) I've had the best of (C/A) intentions
Girl (G) I've had the best of (C/A) intentions,
Yes, (G) I've had the best of (C) intentions (D) loving (Em)you (C) (D)
* A couple of little explanations about this song. Travis uses a simple Em C
D
progression during most of the song. That was the major correction I made to
this song.
When I first saw it there wasn't an Em in the whole thing.
Just a little side note for the ending. At the very end he repeats the "I
had the best
intentions" line three times. On the last time after the word loving he
sings "you" but
hits the Em while singing it. So basically when he sings "you" you start
playing the intro
then slide into a nice little resolved ending.

Peace and Love.
